Detective Wilks
the main protagonest is Detective David Wilks, who is hunting the creature because it is responsible for the murder of his wife and child. originally sent to the town of Ojibwe to investigate a series of grueson murders and missing person cases; Wilks decided to bring his pregnant wife along. because she was due to give birth soon, wilks didnt want to miss the birth. after a few days of investigating and only finding clues about a mythic creature, wilks came back to the hotel where he and his wife were staying. upon arriving he found the window broken into and discovered his blovered dead and half eaten. before he could morn his loss out of the shadows the wendigo threw him across the room and disappeard into the forest.

the wendigo is based of real north american folklore. there have been many adaptations of the creature and therefore i wanted my version to be much different and a little closer to the myth.
the wendigo creature was once human but turned to cannibalism because of shortage of food. some say the wendigo is a spirit that possesses man, making them eat human fleash.
the look of my wendigo portrays him as a dark shadowy being. he is very boney in structure.

The Wendigo (working title)
i aint posted anything on here for a while now but i have been doing a lot of thinking for my narrative project and playing round with photoshop to create lots of character and scene concepts.
before i post my designs i thought it wold b best to start with the synopsis of my screenplay.
the camera starts of with a wide shot of a snowy forest canopy.
Slowly the camera tracks down to reveal a car speeding down, going deeper into the dark and icy forest.
The car quicky stops and skids across the road. as detective wilks steps out the car, a bottle jack danials rolls out into the snow.
Wilks grunts and reaches into the car grabbing a shotgun. He kicks the car door shut with his foot. He then stairs into the cold trap that lays before him.
He stumbles along at first but the deeper he goes into the forest the deeper the snow gets. Wilks is tired and drunk but knows he cant turn back.
Suddenly something catches his eye. he loads his gun and chases of in pursuit of what he believes is the wendigo. As he runs further into the forest's depths; a dark shadow is following him, weaving between the trees, eventually it rushes under the detective from under his feet, knocking him over.
As Wilks crawls over to grab the shotgun, the shadow carries the gun off like a wave of water. Over whelmed by the supernatural force, Wilks stares of into the darkness where the shadow disappeared. Wilks, still on the ground, cautously stands up and slowly moves his hand into his inside pocket. Wilks cocks the revolver ready to shoot whatever comes out the shadows.
Starring into the abyss the creature finally emerges.
No longer just a shadow but now fully in its corporeal, it is much more dangerious than Wilks could have imagined. the tall, skinny boney creature staggers over to wilks. Lifting its right arm ready to lunge at him; wilks pulls out the revolver and shoots off all its rounds at the creature. the wendigo takes in every bulliet but insteady of a cry of pain, it laughs like a wild animal. with a twisted smile it slashes its claws towards wilks. the camera then fades out.

Narrative and Design Unit
for this project we have to design a scene of our choice. my chosen scene involves Detective David Wilks chasing a creature called the Wendigo through the woods. the wendigo is responsible for the murder of his family.
i haven't decided on wot exactly will happen in the scene other than that the main concept is that its about one mans journey to avenge his family and how his obsession consumes him. who is hunting who is the theme of the scene as he continous to search for the creature.
i will post more details about my idea as i go along. for now here are some test concept pictures:
the fisrt image a rough design of the detective done in saul bass style. i like the idea of keeping the look very simple and i think it works well with this image.
the second image i changed the colour and blended a texture on top of it to add a bit more of a gritty look.
finally this was just playing round with set design and adding the wendigo in the background.
in the next few days i will upload character profiles and a rough storyboard of the scene. i will also post more designs of each charactor.
