Characterisation & Performance

For the last couple of months i have been working on this character animation project. The project has not been enjoyable for me as i found it very difficult to animate the rigged characters. the acting shot below; i found easyier and was more enjoyable to do. Unfortunatly the day before final hand in, my laptop crashed and erased most of the work i had done on the acting piece. i was lucky however to salvage the first 4 seconds of what i had done. the audio is taken from evil dead 3: army of darkness. even though i have lost my work, i have decided to redo the project again for my own personal reasons. i found the acting shot a lot of fun and was able to be more creative with it. also after talking with my tutor sean, i have been allowed a few extra days to finish it off.

as well as animating an acting piece we also had to animate a rigged character on an obstacle course and a walk cycle with attidude. the obstacle course was extremely hard to do and with time running out i worked on polishing up on one piece of the obstacle that looked good.

thanks to ben i was able to use him as reference footage for the walk. i wanted to keep the walk very simple but with subtle attidude in his walk. in the end he can can out looking like he was doing a power walk. the main trouble i had was animating the arms. i wanted them to have a real flow to their moment but i dont think it quite worked out.

Below were the first attempts of animating him.

this is the final walk.
